Police were called to the 200 block of Liberty Street around 8:20 p.m. on a report of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Jaquan Heyward, 32, of Plainfield, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick about an hour later.
Plainfield police, the Union County Homicide Task Force, the sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit and county police are all assisting in the investigation.
